CASTLE CHALLENGER LEARNING CENTER
CONTINUING THE MISSION

The Castle Challenger Learning Center Foundation is part of a growing international network established by Challenger Center for Space Science Education. Following the tragedy of the Challenger Space Shuttle accident in 1986, the families of the seven astronauts, in conjunction with educators, scientists, and NASA engineers, created this living memorial. Their dream was to keep the spirit of that extraordinary mission alive. As you participate in this program, you are carrying on the mission of the original Challenger crew.

Challenger Learning Centers offer realistic mock-ups of Mission Control and the interior of a spacecraft. Students join teams at computer consoles at Mission Control or at crew stations in the spacecraft, rev up their imaginations, and work together toward the mission's goal, whether it is the launching of a probe to Halley's Comet or landing on the Moon or Mars.

The Castle Challenger Learning Center is more than a field trip - it is a learning experience that excites and inspires students in math, science, reading, and technology. Using the wonder of space exploration and the power of simulation as educational tools, a Challenger space mission launches students on an exciting journey of exploration.
